Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience administering FortiGate firewalls
- Experience with security policy management, VPNs, remote access and firewall troubleshooting
- Enterprise-scale LAN/WAN support and administration experience
- Data centre networking experience
- Routing and switching expertise
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NTP, OSPF and BGP
- Experience with network monitoring, diagnostics and performance optimisation
- Experience with incident investigation and problem management
- Experience with high availability and resilient network architectures
- Experience with network segmentation and security zoning
- Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity networking
- Experience with load balancing and failover technologies
- Fortinet FCP / NSE certification desirable
- CCNP Enterprise certification desirable

Responsibilities:
- Provide BAU support, maintenance and proactive monitoring across the network infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, service degradations and outages
- Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes
- Administer and support FortiGate firewall environments
- Implement approved network changes, upgrades and security improvements
- Work closely with infrastructure, server and security teams to deliver technical projects
- Maintain high standards of documentation and operational procedures

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our infrastructure team on an initial 6-month contract, with strong potential for extension. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting and enhancing a complex enterprise network environment. The role is based in Liverpool with a hybrid working model of a minimum of 3 days per week onsite, Monday to Friday, free onsite parking, and occasional out-of-hours work to support planned changes, maintenance activities and major incidents. The assignment offers up to £470 per day through an umbrella arrangement, with potential flexibility for the right candidate.
